Howard Schultz was paid $21.7 million in 2010 by Starbucks. This was a raise of $9.6 million over 2009. He is Starbucks’ founder and CEO. This pay package was the highest for a Washington state public company executive in 2010. This was reported in a recent Puget Sound Business Journal articleSchultz has also been in the recent news with his political and charity activities.

His home is on page 21 in LW 130 Homes. It is in Madison Park, south of the high rises, in an exclusive gated community of nine homes that are on the property of the William Garrard Reed estate. (He is the father of Gary Reed [10/1/10 blog post].) Howard drives through the community’s gate and then another gate to his property. His mansion and property, with 16,880 sq ft on 1.8 acres with 248 ft of waterfront, are the largest in community. It is best viewed between this time of year and March.

    1. Schultz is my neighbor here in Seattle. He is one of the most generous people I know. He has given MILLIONS to various charities and the city of Seattle including giving health care to ALL his employees no matter how many hours they work per week. Please refrain from character assassinating those who have done more for human mankind than you.

  2. Howard and Starbucks give jobs to thousands of people. He worked his way from the projects to where he is today. If you have a problem with his status well thats you but if you want to be in his position then work your way up like he did. Starbucks partners are given plenty of opportunities to advance within the company. So before you say bad things about people, better check your info. Easy for people to complain about not making enough money while they sit on their butts waiting for the next hand out.

  3. I have to agree with you completely. Get off your ass and make something of yourself. Quit complaining how much money he makes now after putting in his dues.

  6. Stop complaining about how Howard Shultz is a terrible man. He is the greatest CEO of our time. This man is incredible. I am partner of his and I can tell you he is incredible. Minimum wage is okay when your giving them full health benefits for working 15 hours a week, giving them an education at a great university, helping them when they're in need and way more. Howard is incredible. This man donated 30 million of his own money into PTSD research and you really want to say that he is anything less than incredible.

  8. I just saw the news of Mr. Shultz donating food for the poor--well just like to comment that Starbucks food is not low quality, if I could afford the great things they offer, I would get it along with my hot green tea every morning. But I cannot, and just glad he is doing this. More power to this CEO for starting something that other CEO's will eventually follow. GOOD karma will follow this man throughout his life, may his children be blessed with sunshine throughout this experience we call "life."

  9. Saw him on 60 minutes with his bodyguards close by. Lives in a compound that he has to go through 2 gates to get to. Yeah, just your “average Joe” that hates walls and guns even though he is protected by both. Isn’t hypocrisy great !

The man pays health benefits to all employees and contributes to college funds. Far more than most employers.

  11. Wrong. It was actually starbucks union workers that negotiated for health insurance for part time workers in the late 80's and early 90's.
